Static or dynamic: which one do you need?

Use a static code when the information will not change, such as a Wi-Fi login or a link you own. Use a dynamic code when you print something that must stay valid while the destination changes, for example a menu, a flyer or a product label. Dynamic codes point to a short address on this site, so you can edit the content or pause the code later. The tool tells you clearly which kind you are creating and never claims features it cannot deliver.

PDF QR codes that open on any phone

A QR code cannot open a file that sits on your own computer. To make a PDF QR code, upload the PDF here so it gets a public web address, create a simple PDF from text, or paste a link to a PDF that is already online. The QR code then opens the real file in the phone’s PDF viewer. Always test the link on a phone that is not on your Wi-Fi.

Tips for a code that scans every time

Keep strong contrast, with a dark code on a light background. Leave the empty border around the code, and print it at least 2 cm wide, larger if people scan from a distance. Shorter content gives a simpler pattern. When you add a logo the tool switches error correction to High and keeps the logo small. The 3D tilt only changes the preview, so your downloaded file is flat. Always test the finished design with two different phones.

Yes. It is free, with no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make. You can use the codes for personal or business projects, including print.

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

A static QR code has your link, Wi-Fi details or contact written directly into the pattern. It never expires and does not need our server, but you cannot change it after printing. A dynamic QR code contains a short address on nomiradigital.com that forwards to your link or mobile page, so you can change the destination later and see how often it was scanned. Dynamic codes need our server to stay online.

Do the QR codes expire?

Static codes never expire. Dynamic codes keep working while our server is online and you can pause or edit them at any time. We do not charge a subscription for either.

Why would a QR code not scan, and how does this tool prevent it?

Most failures come from low contrast, an inverted (light on dark) code, a missing empty border, a code that is too small, or a logo that hides too much of the pattern. This tool encodes exactly what you typed, keeps a quiet border of at least 4 squares, checks contrast, raises error correction automatically when you add a center logo, and runs a built-in reader over the exact code before you download. The 3D preview is a display effect only; your PNG, SVG and PDF are always flat.

Can I create a QR code that opens a PDF?

Yes. Upload a PDF (up to 10 MB), write a short PDF from text, or paste a link to a PDF that is already online. A phone cannot open a file from your computer, so uploaded PDFs are stored on our server and the QR code points to a public web address. Dynamic PDF codes let you swap the file later without reprinting.

What do you store when I use the tool?

Static QR codes are created in your browser and what you type is not sent to our server, including Wi-Fi passwords. When you choose a dynamic QR code, an uploaded PDF or image, or a hosted page, the content you enter is stored on our server so phones can open it. We do not store your name or email, and we count scans without recording who scanned.

Can I add a logo or choose colors?

Yes. Add a logo or short text in the center, pick square, rounded, dot, diamond, bar or star shapes, change the corner styles, use a solid color or gradient, make the background transparent, add a label such as SCAN ME and choose eight ready-made styles. Test every styled code with a phone before you print.

Do the dog, house and heart shaped QR codes really scan?

Each template draws its picture with the dark and lighter squares of a normal QR code, so the code still holds all your data. To make that work the tool uses a denser pattern, the highest error correction (30%) and keeps the three corner squares standard. We checked every template with two independent QR readers (ZXing and WeChat) on a computer, but a computer test is not a phone test. Scan the code with your own phone before you print it, keep a light plain background, and print it at least 3 cm wide. If a shape ever fails, choose No shape or raise the shape contrast and you get a regular code.

Which file format should I download?

Choose PNG for websites, documents and social posts. Choose SVG or PDF for print, signs and packaging, because they stay sharp at any size. Leave the white border around the code and test it with a phone before you order prints.
