Website Audit Checklist: 25 Things to Check in 2026
A website can look fine and still lose customers: slow pages, broken links, missing titles or unclear contact details are easy to miss. An audit is a regular health check.
Use this list yourself, or run our free Website Audit and Website Doctor tools to speed it up.
How to run the audit
Sort every problem by impact and effort. Fix what blocks visitors and indexing first, then the polish.
Technical SEO (6 checks)
- Indexing: important pages are indexed and not blocked by robots.txt or noindex
- Sitemap: an XML sitemap lists only useful, live pages
- HTTPS: every page loads on HTTPS with no mixed content
- Status codes: no broken links (404) or long redirect chains
- Canonical tags: one preferred URL per page
- Structured data: valid Organization, LocalBusiness, Article or FAQPage where it fits
Speed and mobile (5 checks)
- Largest content appears quickly on a phone (good LCP)
- The page does not jump while loading (low CLS)
- Images are compressed and sized correctly
- Fonts and scripts do not block the first view
- Buttons and text are easy to tap and read on a small screen
Use PageSpeed Insights and test on a real mid-range phone, not only a fast laptop.

- Headings follow a logical order
- Every service has its own helpful page

- About page, privacy policy and terms
- Software, plugins and themes are updated
